Daniel Chapter 6 verse 10 (NIV)
Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.
Daniel knew what the publishing of the decree meant. He knew he would be facing persecution and trial, yet in spite of this he did not compromise his faith, nor did he change the way he lived out his faith just to save himself from these things. He didn’t even try to hide when he went to pray. He did everything in the same way that he always had, and his faith in God was unwavering.
Sometimes when we face a time of difficulty, especially if it means we may have to be bold in spite of what we are going through, it can be tempting to try and make things easier for ourselves. It might even make us approach God differently.
But God has not changed. He is the same as He always was. He will, and can, move in the same power as He always has. Daniel stuck to His guns, and the impact of doing so made a huge impact. We must therefore take a lesson from his example and do likewise – to worship and serve God as we have always done – even in the hard times.
Dear Lord,
Thank You for the example of Daniel who served and praised You so openly and faithfully, in spite of the consequences. He considered You worthy no matter what. Help me to be as wholehearted in my worship and service, no matter what lies ahead. I asl in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
