3 January 2023 – What have I learned today?

Genesis chapter 6: verses 9-11 (NLT Translation)

This is the account of Noah and his family. Noah was a righteous man, the only blameless man living on the earth at the time, and he walked in close fellowship with God. Noah was the father of three sons: Shem, Ham and Japheth.

Now God saw that the earth had become corrupt and was filled with violence.

Noah didn’t follow the crowd. He stuck close to God and continued to do what was right in spite of what was going on all around him. The pressure to fit in today can be intense – especially with the influence of social media. Its not easy to be the odd one out, even if you are certain that you’re doing the right thing. Noah was able to cope because the Bible tells us that “he walked in close fellowship with God.” He was not left to get on with things in his own strength.

And when we choose to walk God’s way rather than what seems the most popular way, or if everything around us seems like it was in the days of Noah – corrupt and violent, God is right there alongside us too.

Dear God,

Help me keep on the way you want me to go, even if its not the most popular way. Thank you for the comfort and the help of the Holy Spirit to help me on the journey.

I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
