Psalm 104 verse 34 (NIV)
May my meditation be pleasing to him,
as I rejoice in the LORD.
One verse but such a timely reminder for those, like me, whose mind can so easily go off at a tangent. It’s also a reminder that when we are tempted to dwell on things that are best left alone, we should give ourselves a shake and take Paul’s advice to “Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” (Colossians 3: 2-3)
By doing that, it takes our minds off our own situation and turns it towards the things of God. When we think on the things of God, how can we help but rejoice, and then indeed our meditation is pleasing to Him.
Dear Lord,
Help me to turn my thoughts to you when I find them heading down an unhelpful path. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
