Revelation Chapter 22 – Verse 6 (NIV)
The angel said to me, “These words are trustworthy and true. The Lord, the God who inspires the prophets, sent his angel to show his servants the things that must soon take place.”
It’s the last day of the year, and we may have become a bit weary over the last year of the spin and seemingly empty promises we may have seen on TV or other media. We may feel a little disappointed that someone who promised us much, has delivered little or none of what they said they would. Whatever position we find ourselves in at the end of this year, we can stand on this verse. God’s word and His promises are trustworthy and true. We can hold on to them without fear of being let down. God sent an angel to speak to John. He may not use an angel to speak to us. He might use a friend, family member, pastor, or even a stranger. Of course there is the very inspired word itself which we have considered throughout this year. We are fortunate in the west still to have access to the Bible, either in paper form or electronically. If we keep our heart and mind open then we too can learn in the year that lies ahead, how God wants us to live, and how to respond to the circumstances we may find ourselves in. We can trust in what God says without ever becoming disillusioned. That’s a positive thought to take into 2024! Happy New Year when it comes.
Dear Lord,
Thank You that Your promises are trustworthy and true. Help me to hold on to the things that You say, and more importantly to take action on them. Thank You for Your goodness and faithfulness in 2023. Amen.
