Luke chapter 4 verses 42-44 (NIV)
At daybreak, Jesus went out to a solitary place. The people were looking for him and when they came to where he was, they tried to keep him from leaving them. But he said, “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.” And he kept on preaching in the synagogues of Judea.
Luke Christmas challenge day 4.
The people of Capernaum embraced Jesus’ ministry after the people of Nazareth had rejected it. But they wanted to keep him to themselves, and Jesus explained that He needed to go out and spread the good news to other places too. He was not exclusive.
Sometimes when we are happy or comfortable in church, we can occasionally want to keep Jesus for ourselves, but that’s not what He wants. He wants us also, as His Ambassadors, to spread the good news, even although in today’s western society, many people would say that faith is a matter which we should keep to ourselves. Jesus has a purpose for us too, so we must follow His example, and go and do wherever he tells us too.
Dear Lord,
Thank You for reaching out for us and bringing us back into relationship with the Father. Help me to be bolder in sharing that good news. I pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
