4 November 2025 – What have I learned today?

Hebrews chapter 5 verse 14 (NIV)

But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.

Most Christians who have been on their journey of faith for a while will be hoping to have grown in their faith, and be able to digest the solid food that God has for us.

But what struck me about this verse was the reminder that we become mature in the faith by making an effort to work at growing. None of us wants our children to remain immature; we want to see them grow into well rounded individuals, so we teach them to stand on their own two feet. God wants us to be well rounded too. That’s why we are often tried and tested so that we can be stretched and will grow. And we can be assured that God will never be found wanting.

Dear Lord,

Thank You that Your will for us is to be healthy and mature Christians. Help me not to be content to be spoon fed, but to always be hungry to seek Your face. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
