Colossians chapter 1 verses 28-29 (NIV)
He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me.
Paul’s goal was to ensure that all new Christians would grow mature in their knowledge of and relationship with Christ and he put a lot of energy into this. But he didn’t expend his own energy and strength. He did it with the energy given to him by Christ through the Holy Spirit.
Those of us who are mature Christians and seeking to be good ambassadors for Him, should spend time encouraging and supporting those who are new in the faith, but we should not wear ourselves out in doing so. We should do so with wisdom and discernment under the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit.
Neither should we allow new believers to continue to be totally reliant on us. We need to encourage them to be able to find Christ for themselves and to become totally reliant on Him.
Dear Lord,
Help me to be a wise and caring ambassador encouraging new lives to maturity and rejoicing when I see them able to seek Your Face and becoming totally reliant on You. I, ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
