7 April 2025 – What have I learned today?

Deuteronomy chapter 6 verses 10-12 (NIV)

When the LORD your God brings you into the land he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give you—a land with large, flourishing cities you did not build, houses filled with all kinds of good things you did not provide, wells you did not dig, and vineyards and olive groves you did not plant—then when you eat and are satisfied, be careful that you do not forget the LORD, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

Deuteronomy chapter 7 verses 17-18 (NIV)

You may say to yourselves, “These nations are stronger than we are. How can we drive them out? ” But do not be afraid of them; remember well what the LORD your God did to Pharaoh and to all Egypt.

Following on from yesterday, we see here again that God knows full well our hearts and reminds us that we need to focus on Him just as much when things are going well for us as when we are struggling. These two portions of Deuteronomy remind us that God is with us in the good times as well as the difficult ones. Indeed some of the difficult circumstances we find ourselves in are to show that it is God who undertakes for us, that we don’t do things (or shouldn’t) in our own strength. Sometimes we are pt into situations where we know we must rely on God, and He always comes through for us. He never lets us down.

Dear Lord,

Help me to do what You told the Israelites to  – to remember well all that You have done for me in the past and will do again when I find myself in trying times. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
