7 March 2026 – What have I learned today?

Leviticus chapter 15 verse 25 (NIV)

“‘When a woman has a discharge of blood for many days at a time other than her monthly period or has a discharge that continues beyond her period, she will be unclean as long as she has the discharge, just as in the days of her period.

Luke chapter 8 verses 43 – 48 ( NIV)

And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her. She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped.

“Who touched me?” Jesus asked.

When they all denied it, Peter said, “Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you.” But Jesus said, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.”

Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed.  Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.”

When I read this portion in Leviticus, it reminded me once more of the report of the woman with the issue of blood who sought out Jesus. She had been unclean for twelve years. Unable to live a normal life. Isolated. Now short of money because she’d spent all she had seeking a cure. She took a risk going out in a crowd, but she had no other hope. She thought she could touch Jesus without drawing attention to herself. But Jesus wanted to restore her spiritually as well as physically. He wanted everyone to know that she was now spiritually clean. Her life was publically restored. When we come to Jesus, He publicly acknowledges us. And we in turn must do the same for Him. He has done so much for us.

Dear Lord,

Thank You that You know us so well, You know exactly what we need to live for You as You intend for us. Thank You for this reminder of Your compassion, goodness and grace. Help me to look past people’s circumstances and see others as You do. I pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
