Judges chapter 6: verses 14-16 (NIV)
The LORD turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?” “Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family. ” The LORD answered, “I will be with you , and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive.”
Judges chapter 6 verse 34 (NIV)
Then the Spirit of the LORD came on Gideon, and he blew a trumpet, summoning the Abiezrites to follow him.
Gideon didn’t turn into a superhero. He was still Gideon. And God knew that. It was God who was going to move through him, with all his failings and weaknesses. The Holy Spirit came on Gideon and used him. God takes us just as we are. He knows all about us, and He wants to use us so that He is glorified. We don’t need to be special, just be led by the Holy Spirit. He will direct us, guide us and give us courage when we need it.
Dear Lord,
Thank You that You take us as we are and use us for Your glory. Help me not to allow my personal feelings and even my perceptions stand in Your way. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
