Luke chapter 12 verses 29-31(NIV)
And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.
We can all set our heart on things which we aspire to achieve. Sometimes it is things that are good and right to, and sometimes not. Sometimes if we can’t get the things we set our heart on if they are unachievable, or beyond our reach,we can be disappointed. Sometimes the things we set our hearts on, if we are not careful, become the focus of our attention and that’s what Jesus was teaching. If we set our focus on the right things, and in particular the things of God, then everything will fall into place without us rushing about trying to get things right. And most importantly of all, if we seek the things of God and all that He has for us, we will certainly never be disappointed!
Dear Lord,
Help me to set my heart on the things that are Your will for me. Thank You that these are never out of my reach because You have planned them for my God. May I never take my focus off these these things. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
