Psalm 139: Verse 23 -24 (NLT)
Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
Point out anything in me that offends you,
and lead me along the path of everlasting life.
There are people nowadays who put all of their feelings and circumstances on posts in social media platforms. Sometimes that’s because they will get the support of those who follow them, but on other occasions it can be a means of feeding their need for attention, and perhaps approval. Then there are those who keep everything to themselves, who don’t want others to know how they are really feeling, and who feel they must manage their problems all by themselves. God wants neither to be our attitude.
He intends us to lean on him. He knows our hearts, and especially our anxious ones.
Whilst it may feel a bit scary at times to know that God knows our innermost thoughts, it is comforting to know that He understands how we feel and will NEVER turn us away. The thoughts that condemn us and tell us that we can’t come to God because of what we’ve done, don’t come from Him. That’s why Jesus came. Jesus Himself said, “However, those the Father has given me will come to me, and I will never reject them.” (John: Chapter 6: Verse 37) and He also promised never to leave us or forsake us. The writer of Hebrews reminds us that we don’t need to be anxious about keeping up with everyone else, “Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.” (Hebrews Chapter 23 verse 5) What a blessing that is!
Dear Lord,
Thank You that there is no area of my life that is of no interest to You. I’m grateful that You only want the best for us. Help me to draw near to You when I am worried or anxious. I pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
