8 February 2026 – What have I learned today?

Exodus chapter 1 verse 7 (NIV)

The midwives, however, feared God and did not do what the king of Egypt had told them to do; they let the boys live.

The Israelites were in a prolonged period of hardship and testing in a country where they were no longer welcomed. Yet in spite of this, in the hearts of these midwives, and in the lives of others, including Moses’ parents, there was still a holy fear of God. They still did what was right in God’s eyes, confident that He would act. They trusted Him, like Job, when perhaps others would have felt abandoned or forgotten. But His presence was with them. His plan was in hand.

Do we do the right thing even when we may not sense His presence? Do we trust that He is with us even when all seems silent. Jesus doesn’t lie. He has promised to be with us always. And He is.

Dear Lord,

Thank you for the faithful trust of those midwives. Help me to always do what is right in Your eyes, no matter what anyone else says. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
