Acts chapter 26 verses 30-32 (NIV)
The king rose, and with him the governor and Bernice and those sitting with them. After they left the room, they began saying to one another, “This man is not doing anything that deserves death or imprisonment.”Agrippa said to Festus, “This man could have been set free if he had not appealed to Caesar.”
1Corinthians chapter 1 verse 25 (NIV)
For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.
Paul’s situation made no sense to those in authority. They admitted that he didn’t deserve to be imprisoned and yet they wouldn’t set him free. Just as Pilate knew Jesus did not deserve to be crucified but wouldn’t release Him.
But God spoke often to Paul revealing His plans and purposes for him. Paul knew God had told him that he was to go to Rome. The way God works things out for us may at times not make any sense, especially to those who have no knowledge or relationship with Him. Even as Christians we may not always understand what God is doing.
We can however trust that God knows exactly what He’s doing and that His plans and purposes for us are just and right. It doesn’t matter if we don’t understand it. That’s where faith comes in.
Dear Lord,
Help me to trust that in Your wisdom, You know all the plans that You have for me are the just and right ones. That doesn’t change when I don’t understand why I’m going through particular circumstances. Help me in these times of hardship. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
