2 Corinthians chapter 10 verse 7 (NIV)
You are judging by appearances. If anyone is confident that they belong to Christ, they should consider again that we belong to Christ just as much as they do.
Paul found himself being criticised because he didn’t fit the perception of a follower of Jesus that the Corinthians had.
It’s great for us to be confident that we belong to Christ, as we are, but it’s not for us to expect that other Christians that we come across will behave just as we do, or have exactly the same thoughts and views. Providing they trust and accept the sacrifice that Jesus made for them, which is fundamental in our Christian walk, their journey and story will be completely different to ours, but equally relevant as they seek to follow Jesus. We are not meant to be copies of one another. We are meant to reflect Christ in all our uniqueness. That’s a matter in which to rejoice not to criticise.
Dear Lord,
Help me to keep my eyes fixed on Jesus. It is He who is the author and perfecto of my faith, and the faith of every other follower of Jesus. Help me to be a true ambassador. I ask in His precious Name. Amen.
