Mark Chapter 14 verses 55-56 (NIV)
The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for evidence against Jesus so that they could put him to death, but they did not find any. Many testified falsely against him, but their statements did not agree.
The chief priests and the Sanhedrin searched for evidence to incriminate Jesus but they couldn’t find any. Even the false testimonies didn’t hold up. It was the truth in the end that caused them to crucify Jesus when He confirmed who He really was. After all He Himself had said He was the Way, the Truth and the Life.
That’s why we can stand on what Jesus taught. He always speaks the truth, and if we live our lives as we should before the Lord, then the truth and the reality of Jesus will be reflected in us, and people may try to incriminate us, but not be able to provide any factual evidence.
Dear Lord,
I’m so grateful that I can rely on the truth of Your word and thus stand on the promises of God. May my life reflect that truth to draw others to You. I pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
