Genesis Chapter 1: Verses 6-7 (NIV)
And God said, “Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.” So God made the vault and separated the water under the vault from the water above it. And it was so.
Throughout the first chapter of the Bible, we read that God speaks, then He does what He says, and then we read, “And it was so.” We are thus reminded that God keeps His word. He can be trusted. We may still, at the start of this new year, be waiting for something that God promised us last year, or maybe even earlier, but we can rely on the fact that it will happen, at the right time. A preacher I heard many years ago was fond of saying, “God said it, I believe it, that settles it.” Wise advice to take forward into the new year, I think.
Another phrase we read throughout this chapter is, “And God saw that it was good.” God only has our good in mind. Even the difficult circumstances will teach us to look at what God wants us to learn. So, let’s go into 2024 confident that God knows what He is doing!
Dear Lord,
Thank You that we can trust Your Word. And the Word was Jesus Himself. Help me to lean on what You say throughout the year ahead. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
