21 March 2024 – What have I learned today?

Luke Chapter 4: Verses 28-30 (NIV-UK)

All the people in the synagogue were furious when they heard this.  They got up, drove him out of the town, and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw him off the cliff.  But he walked right through the crowd and went on his way.

Even in the early days of His Ministry, Jesus was opposed. He was not always popular but He didn’t shy away from opposition, He faced it. Indeed, in this situation He walked right through it.

In different situations, including matters of faith, what we say will not always go down well. Sometimes the truth hurts and it can even make people really angry, as it did in this instance. Usually this happens when we touch a raw nerve.

We need to act with sensitivity and compassion in such instances, but like Jesus we need to face things head on and deal with it. Jesus will take us right through it.

Dear Lord,

I’m grateful that whatever opposition I may have to face, You will take me right through it. I ask for the grace and compassion to deal with those who are angry and oppose the Word of Truth. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
