5 June 2024 – What have I learned today?

Acts Chapter 3: verses 8-10 (NIV-UK)

He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. When all the people saw him walking and praising God, they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

Acts Chapter 3: Verse 16 (NIV-UK)

“By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him, as you can all see.”

It was obvious to the crowds who recognised this man that a miracle had happened. They could see the transformation with their own eyes. It couldn’t be denied. And so they believed.

That’s why we must be careful, as Christians, how we conduct ourselves and just not rely on what we say. Can they notice the change in our lives, as they should? Can they see or sense the Spirit of Christ at work in our lives, such that it makes them think and wonder what it is that makes us different?

That sense of wonder was what gave Peter the opportunity to share the Good News of the Gospel, and often for us, it will be what people see in us, particularly in the way that we respond to different situations, especially the difficult ones, that will give us the opportunity to share our faith.
