Ezekiel chapter 14 verses 1-3 (NIV)
Some of the elders of Israel came to me and sat down in front of me. Then the word of the Lord came to me: “Son of man, these men have set up idols in their hearts and put wicked stumbling blocks before their faces. Should I let them inquire of me at all?
Revelation Chapter 12: Verse 11 (NIV)
They triumphed over him
by the blood of the Lamb
and by the word of their testimony;
they did not love their lives so much
as to shrink from death.
Following on from yesterday, I am struck even more by how relevant the record in Ezekiel is for our current circumstances. Politics and election aside, it struck me today that no matter how we behave and how much we put a face on, even if we say and do all the things that convention expects us to, God knows the deep things in our hearts, and it is Him with whom we have to do. He will not be mocked, and as Christians, I truly believe more than ever that we must keep our testimony right and true. We are ambassadors for Jesus and it is imperative in these days that we reflect Him as we should.
Too often we see a tainted perception of someone who claims to know God, and people accept that as truth. I saw something yesterday on Instagram (not related to the election) that actually made me feel quite sick. It did not reflect the holiness and truth of Jesus. But sadly, many will accept what was in that post as right and true when it was so much the opposite.
Current affairs would suggest that we are heading towards the end times if so, and we want to be found faithful to the end, we must be very careful to guard our testimony and our portrayal of Christ. Thankfully we have the help of the Holy Spirit to help us in these days.
Dear Lord,
Help me to be very aware of my testimony and help me never to bring dishonour to You and to the work of Jesus. Help me be to be a true ambassador for You under the direction of the Holy Spirit. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
