Daniel chapter 10 verse 12 (NIV)
Then he continued, “Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.”
This is an encouraging reminder that when we make up our mind to humble ourselves and to seek God’s face, He will hear from heaven and answer our prayers. But its also a reminder that the answer will come in God’s time, and in the way that He chooses. Daniel, earlier in the chapter, is commended for his faithfulness and his persistence, especially in the face of opposition.
We see therefore the importance of faithfulness and persistence. Daniel learns during this encounter of the reasons that there was a delay. This doesn’t mean that God was not in control. Everything came together as He intended. Daniel did not know the reasons for the delay, yet he continued in prayer faithfully regardless. We too might not see all that God is doing unseen in response to our prayers and that’s why we need to be as faithful and persistent as Daniel.
Dear Lord, I’m grateful for the reminder that You respond to a heart that humbles itself and seeks Your faith. May I be as faithful and persistent as Daniel. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
