4 December 2024 – What have I learned today?

Daniel chapter 12: verses 8-10 (NIV)

I heard, but I did not understand. So I asked, “My lord, what will the outcome of all this be?”  He replied, “Go your way, Daniel, because the words are rolled up and sealed until the time of the end. Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand.

Daniel was faithful, full of integrity and wise. He kept his life right before God, and he was shown many things that were to come to pass, and in great detail. Yet here we read that he did not understand everything he was shown, and he asked about the outcome of the things that he had seen in these particular visions. But he was told to go his way and leave these things up to God. These things were not for him to know. They were for an appointed time, but in the fulness of time understanding would come to those God revealed them to. Sometimes, we have to accept that God will not reveal to us why He allows us to go through certain circumstances or trials. We have to trust Him and live our lives regardless, even when we are walking as close to God as we can, we need to remember that He is still Sovereign as well as being our Heavenly Father. He knows what He is doing, and sometimes that is all we need to know.

Dear Lord,

I’m grateful for all the times that You have revealed Your plans and directions, but I know there are times when You will not give an explanation for the circumstances that I find myself in. In such times Lord, help me to remember that You are a Good Father and Sovereign God who has my best interests at heart. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
