24 December 2024  – What have I learned today?

Psalm 147: verses 10-11 (NIV)

   His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse,

   nor his delight in the legs of the warrior;

  the Lord delights in those who fear him,

 It’s Christmas Eve, and in many homes, particularly those with young children, there will be great anticipation and excitement at the delights they will wake up to in the morning. For us older folks there may well be the same anticipation at seeing the delight in the faces of those we give our carefully selected gifts to, for it is indeed more blessed to give than to receive. So, it was the word delight that caught my attention in this psalm. We can bring that same delight to the Father by putting our hope and trust in Him and giving Him the praise and thanks that He is due. He wants nothing fancy or complicated from us. Let’s set our hearts then to do just that this Christmas time, in thanks for the gift of Christ.

Dear Lord,

May the praise of my heart and the way I live my life bring You honour and glory. I pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
