20 April 2025 – What have I learned today?

Luke chapter 20 verse 20 (NIV)

Keeping a close watch on him, they sent spies, who pretended to be sincere. They hoped to catch Jesus in something he said, so that they might hand him over to the power and authority of the governor.

People were always watching Jesus and listening to what He said. Some were curious, some were spiritually hungry and others were trying to catch Him out. But He didn’t try to modify His behaviour to suit His audience, and we read in the verses following this one, that they couldn’t catch Him out, in fact they dare not even ask Him any more questions, such was His anointing.

Are we prepared to always be the same, even with those who may be trying to poke fun at our faith, or even perhaps to try and catch us out. If we continue to follow Jesus’ directions as we saw yesterday, then He will also be sure that we speak and act under His anointing, no matter who we are talking to.

Dear Lord,

I’m grateful that You want us to be sincere and wise enough not to be caught out. Help me to make sure that I follow the leading of Your Holy Spirit. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
