Psalm 71 verse 17 (NIV)
Since my youth, God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds.
Philippians chapter 1 verse 6 (NIV)
being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
This verse in Psalm 71 caught my attention this morning. I can’t believe that we are already six months in to 2025. I can definitely vouch for the phenomenon that time flies faster as we get older. I find it just as hard to believe that it’s just over 45 years since I decided to follow Jesus, but as I pondered on this verse, I can definitely testify to it’s truth. God has taught me and kept me throughout all these years, for which I give Him all the praise and glory. He has been faithful when I have not, and extended forgiveness when I have come to Him in repentence. However, Paul’s verse in Philippians reminds me that He is not finished with me yet. We’re never retired from God’s service, rather when our time on earth is done, we are promoted to Glory. Therefore, like David, I must continue to proclaim God’s marvellous deeds for He’s not finished with me yet!
Dear Lord,
As the old hymn says, “I stand amazed in the presence of Jesus the Nazarene, and wonder how He could love me, a sinner condemned unclean… How marvelous, how wonderful and my song will ever be, how marvelous, how wonder is my Saviour’s love for me.” Thank You for Your love, grace and faithfulness. Help me to continue on in Your ways. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
