13 June 2025 – What have I learned today?

Acts chapter 8 verses 4-6 (NIV)

Those who had been scattered preached the word wherever they went. Philip went down to a city in Samaria and proclaimed the Messiah there. When the crowds heard Philip and saw the signs he performed, they all paid close attention to what he said.

Philip went to a city in Samaria. Prior to his encounter with Jesus it’s probably not somewhere he would have gone. If persecution hadn’t hit the church, perhaps  he still wouldn’t have. But he did, and the crowds paid attention to what he said and observed all that he did.

That made me think of how I might behave if I find myself in a situation that I would not have chosen. Would I still act and speak as an ambassador of Christ should, or would I be feeling for myself? I need to remember that people may be observing my behaviour as Philip was observed, after all I want them to see Jesus in me.

Dear Lord,

Thank You for Philip’s example of obedience, service and faithfulness. Help me to follow that lead, I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
