27 June 2025 – What have I learned today?

1 Kings chapter 18 verse 20 – 21. (NIV)

So Ahab sent word throughout all Israel and assembled the prophets on Mount Carmel. Elijah went before the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.”But the people said nothing.

God doesn’t mind us pouring our hearts out to Him, even our doubts and fears. We just need to look at the psalms and see that king David in particular did just that. But what grieves God is when we say one thing and do the very opposite, and worse still to flip flop between decisions. God can do nothing through our lives if we are indecisive. If we confess our fears and worries about what we know we should do, then God will deal with them and give us the courage to do what He requires, but He won’t use us if we are unreliable. I wonder if that’s why the people said nothing after Elijah spoke. They knew just how they had behaved.

Dear Lord,

I’m grateful that I can bring all my worries to You. Help me to be open and honest about how I feel, and willing to hand these feelings to You, so that You can change me and be able to use me for Your glory. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
