12 July 2025 – What have I learned today?

Romans Chapter 1 verses 11-12 (NIV)

I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong— that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.

Although Paul is writing to people who are new to the Christian faith, it’s worth noting that he doesn’t just want to visit the church in Rome for their benefit, but for his too – that they may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.

New Christians may not know much yet about God’s laws and statutes, but they are often very aware of the change that believing in Jesus has made to their lives, and therefore keen to share that good news with others. That can remind those further along their own faith journey that God’s blessings are fresh and new every morning, and we need to be just as keen as new Christians to be bold enough to share our faith. In turn, sharing our experiences with newer Christians, especially how God has kept us in times of hardship or difficulty, is an important lesson for them to learn. We too have much to learn from fellow believers, no matter what stage of life we are at, and we can certainly learn much from them too!

Dear Lord,

Thank You for the benefits and lessons we can learn and share by telling our own story but also in hearing the stories of others. May I be willing to do so at every opportunity and not be reticent at doing so. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
