Exodus Chapter 35: Verses 29 to 34. (NLT Translation)
So the people of Israel – every man and woman who was eager to help in the work the LORD had given them through Moses – brought their gifts and gave them freely to the LORD. Then Moses told the people of Israel, “The LORD has specifically chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the grandson of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. The LORD has filled Bezalel with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, ability and expertise in all kinds of crafts. He is a master craftsman, expert in working with gold, silver, and bronze. He is skilled in engraving and mounting gemstones and in carving wood. He is a master at every craft. And the LORD has given both him and Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, the ability to teach their skills to others.
All the Lord really asks of us to be willing and eager. When a willing heart is offered to God, He can do great things with us. As a young Christian I heard my wise pastor often say, “One volunteer is better than ten pressed men.” God only ever uses volunteers, never conscripts.
Bezalel and Oholiab were given great gifts and talents by the Lord, but they were not to be precious about the use of their gifts. They were to teach others their skill. God doesn’t intend for us to be exclusive either, but to share what He has given to us with others.
Dear Lord,
May I be a willing tool in Your hands and also eager to share the good things You have done for me and given me with others for Your glory. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
