15 August 2025 – What have I learned today?

2 Chronicles chapter 2 verses 11 – 12 (NIV)

Hiram king of Tyre replied by letter to Solomon:“Because the LORD loves his people, he has made you their king.”And Hiram added:“Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, who made heaven and earth! He has given King David a wise son, endowed with intelligence and discernment, who will build a temple for the LORD and a palace for himself.

Hiram, king of Tyre, recognised God’s hand on Solomon’s life. As a result, he gave praise and honour to God, and it made him act in obedience to God’s plan. What he saw in Solomon affected Hiram’s behaviour.

But what about us? Does the way we behave reflect Jesus in us, and does it affect the behaviour of others. I believe that it should.

As a young Christian in my first job, I remember that one of the men in the office wouldn’t tell any risqué jokes if I was in the room. He’d wait till I wasn’t in the room. We have a great responsibility because we carry the Holy Spirit in our lives and He wants to move through us, but He won’t unless we are obedient. We can make a massive difference if we are obedient.

Dear Lord,

Thank You for the difference obedient Christians have made to my life. Help me to be willing to make an impact on others. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
