17th August 2025 – What have I learned today?

2 Chronicles chapter 7 verses 13-14(NIV)

“When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people,  if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

God knows our hearts. Nothing is hidden from Him. He knew that in spite of all the promises made by Solomon and the people of Israel, however sincere at the time, they would ultimately not be able to keep them. He knew they would sin and need to face the consequences of their sin. But He promised that He would always respond to a genuine repentant heart that would seek His forgiveness. He still does. He knows we mean to do right, but we don’t always do what we promise to. Too often we are like Peter who promised to stand with Jesus yet denied Him. The good news for us is that through Jesus’ sacrifice, there is a way back for us, but we must still humble ourselves and pray.

Dear Lord,

Thank You for making a way back for us. Thank You Jesus for bridging the gap that we could never cross on our own. Amen.
