2 Chronicles chapter 18 verse 33 (NIV)
But someone drew his bow at random and hit the king of Israel between the breastplate and the scale armour. The king told the chariot driver, “Wheel around and get me out of the fighting. I’ve been wounded.”
Following on a little from yesterday’s pondering. Some people like to be noticed. They enjoy being in the limelight or in the front line. Other people can’t think of anything worse, and are far happier behind the scenes. But it is God who determines the role He has for us. We are called to simply do as we are told. It doesn’t matter whether we are recognised and acknowledged for what we do. It is enough to know that God is pleased by our obedience. In these verses we aren’t told who fired the arrow which killed the king of Israel. That’s not important. God had told the king he would be killed and the king tried to hide. But God’s will was done as He intended, even if we don’t know anything about the person God used.
Dear Lord,
Help me to be obedient to Your will, even if what I do is unseen or unknown by others. But help me also to be obedient even if it means being out of my comfort zone. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
