2 Corinthians chapter 2 verses 14-16 (NIV)
But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere. For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. To the one we are an aroma that brings death; to the other, an aroma that brings life. And who is equal to such a task.
Jesus is the Victor in this picture of a procession. It’s right that we are at the back, for we have done nothing. Yet we are to be the ones who are to be His Ambassadors. Can His light and His very presence be sensed in our lives? It should be. If it is, it will be offensive to some, whilst others will be drawn to find out more of Him. As Paul says, who is equal to such a task? Certainly not in our own strength, and that’s why we have the Holy Spirit. We allow Him to move and reveal Jesus. That’s why He came.
Dear Lord,
We are privileged to be the ones You choose to reveal Your presence to the world. May my own desires and feelings not get in the way of the moving of the Holy Spirit. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
