Mark Chapter 13: Verses 10-11 (NLT Version)

“For the Good News must first be preached to all nations. But when you are arrested and stand trial, don’t worry in advance about what to say. Just say what God tells you at that time, for it is not you who will be speaking, but the Holy Spirit.”

Even in this modern age, in some countries  Christians are still put on trial for their faith. In the UK we are not, but we may still be ridiculed because of our belief, and there is growing pressure to compromise the Bible’s teaching in order to “fit in” with popular opinion.

But God wants the Good News in its entirety to be preached worldwide, and He will use ordinary folk to do so by sharing their own experiences, not just preachers. We might stutter and stumble, but Jesus tells us not to worry about being an eloquent speaker. The Holy Spirit Himself will guide us in what to do and say. We just need to be sensitive to His nudge and prompting, and do what He tells us.

Dear Lord,

Thank You that the Holy Spirit will never leave us to do Your work under our own steam. I pray that I might be sensitive to His leading and obedient to His direction, so that I can share the Good News with others when the opportunity arises. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
