Psalm 132 verses 1-2 (NIV)
I lift up my eyes to you,
to you who sit enthroned in heaven.
As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their master,
as the eyes of a female slave look to the hand of her mistress,
so our eyes look to the LORD our God,
till he shows us his mercy.
Here we are reminded that slaves in a household did not do as they pleased. They looked first for direction from the person that they served, and that with the expected attitude of service and a humble heart.
Do we always take our direction first from God, as we should, and even more importantly, do we do so with the right attitude?
God loves us and has great plans for us, but He deserves our service with a pure and humble heart.
Dear Lord,
Thank You that Your instructions and direction are only ever for our good. Help me always to serve with the right attitude and a thankful heart for all that Christ has done for me. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
