Hebrews chapter 11 verse 6 (NIV)
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
I recall in my younger days attending a hospital Christian Fellowship meeting and discussing with others there what we thought this verse meant for us. I don’t recall what we all said, except that I think that some, including me at that time, found it difficult to put it into words. And now, many years later?
How can we please God without faith, because if we don’t have faith, then in effect we are saying that we don’t believe Him or trust Him. we don’t trust Him. If He asks us to do something and we choose not to do as He asks, then why should we expect Him to take pleasure in what we choose to do, even if we think we are doing the right thing. But if we choose to serve God with a pure heart and total obedience, then surely we are living out a life of faith, and bringing pleasure to our Heavenly Father.
Dear Lord,
I realise now that pleasing You is not complicated. Help me to serve with a pure heart and total obedience. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
