9 March 2023- What have I learned today?

Mark Chapter 14: Verses 71-72 (NLT Version)

Peter swore, “A curse on me if I’m lying-I don’t know this man you are talking about!” And immediately the cock crowed the second time.

Suddenly Jesus’ words flashed through Peter’s mind. “Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny three times that you even know me.” And he broke down and wept.

Numbers Chapter 23: Verse 19: (NLT Translation)

God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?

As the Son of God, Jesus, like His Father God, always told the truth, even if the truth is difficult for us to hear. Because of this we know that we can trust that He will keep His word. Often when God speaks to us, it is about something that is still to happen. And if it doesn’t happen immediately, it’s easy for us to put it out of our mind. But that doesn’t mean it won’t happen, or that God won’t bring back to our mind the thing that He has told us.

Peter dismissed what Jesus told him about his denial. He didn’t want to think that he would deny his friend and Lord. But then the things came to pass just as Jesus said they would. And Jesus’ words came flooding back to Peter. If God has promised us something, no matter how long it takes to come to pass, it will happen just as God said. We may forget, but God won’t. At the right time it will happen just as God said and He will bring it back to our remembrance.

Dear Lord,

Help me to remember what You have promised and to hold on to it, knowing that I can trust that Your word will come to pass at the right time. And may I not easily forget the things that I have promised You.

I pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
