Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.
Psalm 31: Verse 24 (NIV Translation)
Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.
We can put our hope in different things or people. Sometimes that hope may be justified, whilst at other times we may feel let down. Sometimes the things we put our hope in are not always good for us, for example, success, fame or wealth. However, I think that someone who has lost hope is much to be pitied. But if we put our hope in the LORD, as the psalm says we can take heart. God will never let us down. He will give us the strength and courage to keep going in situations in which we might otherwise despair.
Dear Lord,
Thank You that You offer hope when there is despair in situations all around us. Help me to point others to You when they have lost their hope. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
