Revelation chapter 21 verses 3-4 (NIV)
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
The book of Revelation is not an easy read. Many scholars and theologians have attempted to explain it, and they don’t all share the same view! But let’s focus on the positive. The things we can understand. We began the month by celebrating advent – the coming of Immanuel – God with us. Here we see that although we currently have the Spirit of God dwelling with us and in us, there will come a time when we will dwell also with the Father where He is, and not only that there will be a new and restored order. Can’t get more positive than that!
But in the meantime, as we head towards 2026 we continue to have the reassurance that we will face what lies ahead with Jesus alongside us, and in the strength and power of the Holy Spirit.
Dear Lord,
Thank You that Your heart’s desire is to be amongst Your own. In the year that lies ahead, may it be my heart’s desire to spend more time with You. I pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
