Luke Chapter 1: Verses 18-20 (NLT Version)
Zechariah said to the angel, “How can I be sure this will happen? I’m an old man now, and my wife is also well along in years.”
Then the angel said, “I am Gabriel! I stand in the very presence of God. It was he who sent me to bring you this good news! But now, since you didn’t believe what I said, you will be silent and unable to speak until the child is born. For my words will certainly be fulfilled at the proper time.”
Even at the sight of an angel sent directly from God, Zechariah did not believe what he said – even although it was a miraculous answer to the prayers of a very godly couple. I’m not sure if my response would be any different. But the thing that struck me most was tat God’s word was going to come to pass whether Zechariah believed it or not.
And the same applies in our lives, whether we believe what God has promised us or not. Things will happen just as God has said. He always keeps His word. But it gladdens His heart when we believe it.
Dear Lord,
How often I must have hurt You with my unbelief. Forgive my attitude and change my heart, I pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen
