6 February 2026 – What have I learned today? Job chapter 38 verses 4 – 7 (NIV)

“Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?

   Tell me, if you understand.

Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know!

Who stretched a measuring line across it?

On what were its footings set,

or who laid its cornerstone —

while the morning stars sang together

and all the angels shouted for joy?

Genesis chapter 1 verse 31 (NIV)

God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.

In chapters 38 and 39 of Job, we read in much more detail of the miracle of creation. We know from the record in Genesis that it was good, but here we get a glimpse of the wonder of it all. So wonderful, that the  angels who had the privilege of serving and worshipping before God actually shouted for joy.  If we were ever in doubt that God only intends the best for us, then these chapters in Job are a reminder of the wonder but also the mercy of God, that even although sin entered into this perfect world and spoiled it, God has made a way through Jesus to restore it, and bring us back into the right relationship with Him.

Dear Lord,

What a vivid reminder that You do all things well. Thank You for Your goodness, grace and mercy. You are indeed worthy of praise. Amen
