Exodus chapter 5 verses 22-23 (NIV)
Moses returned to the LORD and said, “Why, Lord, why have you brought trouble on this people? Is this why you sent me? Ever since I went to Pharaoh to speak in your name, he has brought trouble on this people, and you have not rescued your people at all.”
Numbers chapter 23 verse 19 (NIV)
God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?
In chapter 4 of Exodus God had clearly outlined to Moses what was going to happen when he confronted Pharaoh, even how Pharaoh’s heart was hardened. Yet as we see it coming to pass as, Moses lets the circumstances get to him instead of standing on what God had told him. Perhaps he expected immediate action. But we can’t criticise Moses because how often have we (or at least me) done the same thing. If God says He will do something then He will, but we need to hold onto His promises and remember that God’s timing is perfect, but it may not be the timing that we expect. But if God has promised, He will do it.
Dear Lord,
Give me the patience to hold onto Your promises and trust Your timing. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
