17 February 2026 – What have I learned today?

Mark Chapter 2 verses 23-24 (NIV)

One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and as his disciples walked along, they began to pick some ears of corn. The Pharisees said to him, “Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?”

What struck me here was the fact that Jesus and His disciples weren’t really doing anything special here. They were out walking. Yet there were still Pharisees around watching their every move, determined to catch them out. But even then, Jesus was ready with His response. He was never caught off guard.

Sometimes we might not even realise that people may be watching us, even as we are just going about our every day lives. Some may be genuinely interested in how our faith impacts how we respond in different circumstances, and there may be some who might be looking for an opportunity to wag a finger of rebuke. But are we caught off guard? Or are we living so close to the Lord that we can discern how the Holy Spirit would have us respond?

Dear Lord,

Help me never to stray far from Your guiding hand. Guard my life and testimony so that it points people to You, so that I may be ready in season and out of season to share Your truth. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
