16 March 2026 – What have I learned today?

Psalm 34 verse 19 (NIV)

The righteous person may have many troubles,

   but the LORD delivers him from them all;

As this psalm continues, David teaches us another important lesson. Being righteous does not exclude us from having many troubles. We have already seen this from the account of Zecheriah and Elizabeth’s childlessness, and people’s attitude towards this. But David also reminds us that God will deliver us from them all. Deliverance may mean that God takes us out of the situation, but it can also mean that He will bring us safely through our troubles, and be right with us in the midst of them, and then bring us safely out the other side. Both aspects are examples of deliverance. It is God who chooses which way to deliver us. We just need to trust that He will.

Dear Lord,

Thank You for the reassurance that You will always deliver us from the troubles we will at times experience. Help me to trust that the way You do is the best way for me. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
