Proverbs chapter 8 verses 10-11 (NIV)
Choose my instruction instead of silver,
knowledge rather than choice gold,
for wisdom is more precious than rubies,
and nothing you desire can compare with her.
1 Corinthians chapter 1 verse 24 (NIV)
but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
1 Corinthians chapter 1 verse 30 (NIV)
It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.
When I pondered the advice in the book of Proverbs, about seeking wisdom and knowledge, I was then reminded of the teaching to the Corinthians, that Jesus is the wisdom that comes from God, and thus its Him who we should be seeking above all, before wealth, status or anything else. And if we do so we can be confident that that we can also stand, not in our own strength, but in the power of God in Christ.
Dear Lord,
Help me to remember that if I seek first God’s Kingdom, You will add everything else as I need it. I pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
