4 April 2026 – What have I learned today?

Luke chapter 10 verses 1-3 (NIV)

After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go.  He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.

Luke chapter 10 verse 17 (NIV)

The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”

We know that Jesus appointed 72 others to go out and work on His behalf because it is recorded here in Luke. He sent them out with the same authority He had given to His disciples. And they, like the disciples, came back rejoicing. In Jesus’ Name, under His anointing, they performed miracles. But we don’t know anything else about them, not even their names. We don’t need to know.

These people were acting under Jesus’ authority through the power of the Holy Spirit. They were His representatives. They were not acting on their own. That’s why we don’t need to know anything else about them. They were tools in God’s hands.

We too are meant to be tools that God can pick up and use as He chooses. Our status is not important. People need to see God at work in us and through us. They don’t need to know all our personal stuff, except that which glorifies God.

And if we are obedient, we too can know the joy of seeing God’s hand at work, even through us, and that puts us in everything else in its rightful place.

Dear Lord,

Thank You that You are able to move through anyone who is willing to be obedient to Your will rather than their own. Help me to be an obedient and useful vessel for Your glory. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
