8 April 2026 – What have I learned today?

Deuteronomy chapter 9 verses 4-5 (NIV)

After the LORD your God has driven them out before you, do not say to yourself, “The LORD has brought me here to take possession of this land because of my righteousness.” No, it is on account of the wickedness of these nations that the LORD is going to drive them out before you. It is not because of your righteousness or your integrity that you are going in to take possession of their land; but on account of the wickedness of these nations, the LORD your God will drive them out before you, to accomplish what he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Here we see in this portion of Deuteronomy that the people of Israel are reminded that nothing can hinder God’s plan. Moses reminded the people that it was not  because of anything that they had done that gained them the promised land. It was the plans and purposes of God, and His goodness and mercy.

We too need to remember that if God chooses to move through us, it’s not in any way because we are anything special, but because it is part of God’s plan for us, as well as His goodness and mercy.

Dear Lord,

Thank You for these reminders this week. Help me to always remember that I am simply a tool in Your hand. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
