12 April 2026 – What have I learned today?

Deuteronomy chapter 18 verse 9 (NIV)

When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there.

1 Corinthians chapter 11 verse 1 (NLT)

And you should imitate me, just as I imitate Christ.

Young children are so quick to pick up and imitate the behaviour and mannerisms of the adults round about them. Sometimes we smile and it makes us go, “ah.” Other times when they copy things that we would rather they didn’t, we may even cringe. We want to set a good example and be able to say, like Paul, imitate me as I imitate Christ.

They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. What greater thing can we do to please and bring pleasure to the Lord Jesus than to imitate Him in His obedience and submission to the Father.

Dear Lord,

How wonderful that Paul was in a place that he could say, “imitate me as I imitate Christ.” I’m not sure I’m in that place but help me to watch and learn from You. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
