Psalm 47 verse 4 (NIV)
He chose our inheritance for us,
the pride of Jacob, whom he loved.
This verse reminded me how much God has done for us. He has everything planned for our good. Our inheritance usually means something that is handed out to us as a gift. It’s not something we’ve earned.
Often an inheritance is something that comes from family. But at the end of the day, it’s the grantor of the inheritance who decides on whom they will bestow an inheritance, and what that will be. We can do nothing for ourselves.
And also with the Lord. He has chosen our gifts and our path. We know His choice is the best for us, and we certainly could never achieve better under our own steam. How many reasons then do we have to give God thanks for.
Dear Lord,
I do give you the thanks of a grateful heart for I know that without you I would have nothing and would indeed be, as Paul put it, “of all men most miserable. I also need to remember not to concern myself with anyone else’s inheritance. That is your concern. Thank you again for your overflowing goodness. Amen.
