4 May 2026  – What have I learned today?

Proverbs chapter 11 verse 14 (NIV)

For lack of guidance a nation falls,

but victory is won through many advisers.

1 Timothy chapter 2 verses 1-4 (NIV)

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people-for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.  This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

I confess that I need to be regularly reminded to pray for those in authority. Seems appropriate in the face of the forthcoming elections on the 7th. Whatever our personal views on policies and politics, those who take up post, whether they share our faith or not, will make decisions that will impact on all of us. They need guidance to do so, thus we must pray.

Dear Lord,

Forgive my lack of consistency in this area. Help me to pray for those in authority who will take up their new position in Parliament this week. I ask in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
